This has been achieved by the implementation of various
policies at the IDC .Details cannot be revealed about
the policies; however, the activities can be summarized
as follows:
Basic perimeter protection: based on the individual
customers confirmed requests, the port except those
required to be kept open are closed at the router level
and server level on a case to case basis
Intrusion Detection System (IDS): Network
based intrusion detection system has been deployed which
monitor the whole network for all known and suspected
activities. Based on the policies set, the system automatically
alerts and terminates serious malicious activities
Manage Firewall Services: Managed Firewall
services can be offered from the Inner Perimeter level
for those customers who would like to avail of the services.
The rule base shall be on a case-to-case basis as per
customer requirements
Vulnerability Assessment: Checks can be performed
on request. By recommending to the customer the possible
vulnerabilities on his Operating System (OS), the customers
system can be made less susceptible to attacks. OS hardening
is also offered as a service to customers at an extra
cost on a one to-one basis.
Anti-virus policy: It s mandatory that all
servers in the farm have an anti-virus application running.
The customer is given the option to install his own
package or allow the IDC to install and update an anti-virus
application
Password policy: This is also taken up on
one-to-one basis for maintaining and updating the passwords
from time-to-time
